I was born in Chile and then moved to England where I studied textile design at Central St Martin’s, London and later at Herriot Watt University, Scotland.
I have worked as a designer of industrial woven textiles for about 20 years and have also taught as a visiting lecturer at various UK universities before moving to Nelson, New Zealand in 2007 with my family.
My work focuses on traditional techniques, quality natural materials and vibrant colour combinations inspired by my surroundings, experiences and research findings.
I have recently set up a studio at Founders’ Heritage Park in Nelson where I am continuing my freelance design work but also returning to hand weaving and teaching. The studio houses a small teaching room with table looms that are set up and ready to weave and my adjacent working studio with a computer assisted dobby loom. A small selection of hand woven items are available for sale and commissions are welcome.
